Positive Psychology

Since about 2000, a new direction within psychology gains more and more popularity. Positive Psychology considers it as its pioneering concept, that psychology should

● be as concerned with strength as with weakness
● be as interested in building the best things in life as in repairing the worst
● be as concerned with making the lives of normal people fulfilling as with healing pathology
● develop Interventions to increase well being, not just to decrease misery

The first Congress of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA) 2009 in Philadelphia showed, that there are already a number of highly effective and easily applicable interventions.

The mission of Positive Psychology is to mediate that, positive emotions, engagement, meaningful goals and satisfying relationships can be learned and taught.

At the IPPA conference presented research results showed; that the approach of Positive Psychology can be successfully applied in education, economy and - what becomes more and more obvious - in therapy, which offers almost unprecedented new opportunities.

The research how people can reach a higher level of happiness is not new. The systematic approach and a consequent organisation of applying Positive Psychology in different fields is innovative.
